Something BIG is coming to Denver!
The largest hotel construction project in the United States is currently taking place right here in Denver. Gaylord Hotels (a branch of Marriott Hotels) is known for their all-encompassing “Everything in one place” hallmark that enables guests to enjoy everything they need for an unforgettable trip in one convenient location. The chain is currently in the process of building a new location mere minutes away from Denver International Airport. As Denver’s professional aerial photographer hired to photograph this project, it is our pleasure to tell you about this exciting development.
Building Gaylord Rockies
As we mentioned, the Gaylord Rockies hotel is the largest hotel construction project currently underway in the United States. Every day, more than 500 construction workers come together to work on the project. Once the exterior is complete and they are able to work inside, there will be over 1,000 workers on site each day. Mortenson Construction is tasked with bringing this vision to life. They broke ground at the beginning of 2016. The hotel is planning to open in late 2018.
The Future Of Gaylord Rockies
- 1,501 guest rooms (including 114 suites)
- 8 dining outlets
- World-class spa salon and fitness center
- Indoor / outdoor pool, lazy river, and lap pool

Needless to say, Gaylord Rockies will be a powerful addition to the Denver community and economy. We are excited to see all that lies ahead for this great project!
Photographing The Construction Of Gaylord Rockies
At Imagewerx Aerial Photography, our job is to capture detailed images of the project as it progresses. Photographing construction as it progresses is important for every project, but we are particularly honored to have been selected as the exclusive Colorado aerial photographer to capture images of this massive project.
We fly the site once per month, which enables us to create a smooth timeline of images chronicling its progress. Because of its close proximity to Denver International Airport (which is visible in the background of some of the pictures), this is a challenging area to get permission to fly in. We have to submit maps of our planned routes and make several phone calls prior to each flight. ATC will give us a certain time we are allowed to be on site, and it is critical that we fly within the parameters they set for us.
Though challenging, this project is providing us with an excellent opportunity to build on our experience as the premier aerial photographer in the Midwest. We are truly honored to be the trusted photographer of this outstanding project. We look forward to following the project through to its completion!
